Drug development and world-wide registration of niche pharmaceuticals

The main product developed by Debiovision is Debio 8609 /  Sanvar®, a synthetic octapeptide analogue of the naturally-occurring somatostatin hormone for the treatment of esophageal variceal bleeding, currently in phase III clinical trials.

Milestones

In 2006, The Company signed exclusive license agreements for the marketing of Sanvar® in the US with Salix Pharmaceuticals; in India, Bangladesh and Nepal with Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd, in Brazil with EMS Sigma Farma; in Israel with Tzamal Bio-Pharma Ltd; and in Korea with LG Life Sciences.

Management

Jacques Guertin

President and Chief Executive Officer, Debiovision Inc.

Mr. Guertin obtained his B.A. degree from l'École des Hautes Études Commerciales de Montréal in 1975.  He is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. He has worked for over 20 years in finance, where he has held several management positions and taken part in a number of strategic business transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, start up, franchises and financing.  Previous job experiences include Vice-President for a Trust Company, a real estate brokerage firm and for an IT Consultant company, as well as more than ten years for Raymond, Chabot, Grant, Thornton, a chartered accountant and consulting firm based in Montreal. Mr. Guertin also held interim senior management positions in numerous consulting mandates as well as in financial reorganisation.  He joined Debiovision Inc. in 2001.
